The last public reselling number on this blog was $78 in sales and $122 in the hole. That was week two. August and September are locked.
Gross first, because that is what the platforms show you. Profit second, because that is the number I will sign.
The two months
| Metric | August | September |
|---|---|---|
| Items sold | 34 | 46 |
| Gross | $952.14 | $1,295.59 |
| Average sale | $28.00 | $28.16 |
| Top platform | eBay | eBay |
| Net after fees | $795.12 | $1,018.67 |
| Pickup / COGS | $186.75 | $278.44 |
| Profit | $608.37 | $740.23 |
Two months: 80 sales, $2,247.73 gross, $1,348.60 profit after fees and pickup.
The average barely moved. August was $28. September was $28.16. The closet did not find a $90 jacket and call it a system. It sold more of the same kind of thing.
eBay was the top platform both months. Not the only one. The week-two update had Poshmark sales and Depop offers, and those doors stayed open. eBay is where the volume landed.
What locked means
I did not call a month profitable when the sales tab looked good. I called it profitable when every sold item had a pickup cost and the math still stood.
August: fees took gross from $952.14 to $795.12, about 16.5% off the top. Pickup was $186.75. Profit $608.37. Most of that cost is boring — a lot of pieces at $4.99, a Harley at $10, Nike pants at $6.99, a couple of hats under $2, a few free items. $42.25 of August COGS is a likely cost on the 1140 hoodie, not a scanned receipt. If that hoodie was wrong, August moves a little. It does not flip the month.
September: fees took gross from $1,295.59 to $1,018.67. That is about 21% off the top, worse than August. Pickup was $278.44. Profit $740.23.
More sales, more profit, a fatter fee line. Both of those are the month. I am not going to quote the gross and skip the cut.
The old “$200 haul” was the cap I walked into the pop-up with. Locked pickup on what actually sold is $186.75 in August and $278.44 in September. Different question.
What this does not include
Hours. $1,348.60 across two months is not an hourly wage until sourcing, photos, listing, and packing are logged. I have not published that denominator.
The blog. This scorecard is the closet, not pageviews or the email list.
A salary. Eighty sales at $28 is a real side stream. It is not “quit your job.”
Verdict
The $78 post promised I would come back when the haul cleared or something broke. The haul cleared. Nothing broke.
Would I run these two months again? Yes. Same average, same top platform, a cost on every sold item, profit up from $608 to $740 even after September’s fees took a bigger bite.
Next update is October the same way: gross, net, pickup, profit — or a note that the cost column would not close. Whichever comes first.
If you want the process behind the scorecard — house first, capped haul, fees left in, a cost on every SKU — the free starter kit is still the front door.
